Windermere is the largest of the lakes in the Lake District and also the largest in England. We tackle this lake last as part of the challenge finishing at Waterhead, Ambleside right next to a pub where you can enjoy a well deserved drink!

We start the paddle journey at the southern end of the lake at Fellfoot Park, a National Trust establishment which provides us with easy access to the water albeit with a short carry of about 100m.

Paddling South to North often gives us a slight advantage with the prevailing wind being regularly behind us! Usually on the last leg groups are only to happy to receive extra help especially when the old arms and shoulders are beginning to get tired.
